I cannot understand people who do not understand how the media has altered our country's view of the war. They media has. They have altered our view to fit theirs and their editorial boards. Their views are anti-war, but also, I think, mixed with an anti-authoritarian view mixed with their hatred for President Bush. Bush can never be good enough because he is a Republican, the son of a Republican president, he feels the authority of his office, and his self evident reality which are based in a Judeo-Christian view of right and wrong. WOW, that pisses off the reality based wicca set. That and he is a male WASP. Ironic? You betcha. It stings.I have just returned from my fourth trip to Iraq in the past 17 months and can report real progress there. More work needs to be done, of course, but the Iraqi people are in reach of a watershed transformation from the primitive, killing tyranny of Saddam to modern, self-governing, self-securing nationhood--unless the great American military that has given them and us this unexpected
opportunity is prematurely withdrawn. . . .Here is an ironic finding I brought back from Iraq. While U.S. public opinion polls show serious declines in support for the war and increasing pessimism about how it will end, polls conducted by Iraqis for Iraqi universities show increasing optimism. Two-thirds
say they are better off than they were under Saddam, and a resounding 82% are confident their lives in Iraq will be better a year from now than they are today. What a colossal mistake it would be for America's bipartisan political leadership to choose this moment in history to lose its will and, in the famous phrase, to seize defeat from the jaws of the coming victory.
Little Joey Biden Time Cutting to the bone once again, Joseph Biden has forcefully stated our reason to cut and run while staying the course. A stellar performance, once again, from one of the foremost purveyors of nuanced logic serving in the senate. Our large military presence [in Iraq] -- while still the only guarantor against a total breakdown -- is increasingly counterproductive. It goes without saying that a total breakdown just might be counterproductive, but then I am a finish-what-you-started-type-of-guy. Does that still play in DC? |
Bush Lied, Gadzillions Died Clinton Justice Department's 1998 report: al-Qaida reached an understanding with the Government of Iraq that al-Qaidawould not work against that government and that on particular projects, specifically including weapons development, al-Qaida would work cooperativelywith the Government of Iraq.2002 George Tenet (appointed WJC-Hillary's husband) : We have solid reporting of senior-level contacts between Iraq and al-Qaida going back a decade. Okay, everyone was right except GWB. Right? |
Boston - Bunker Hill Would be Proud
The city of Boston no longer loves Christmas. In fact, christmas is just another holiday, say like labor day or love a lawyer day or maybe People for the American Way Day. boston's christmas should stir no more meaning than Boxer Day in Canada, er, maybe canada should dumb down boxer day so as not to eclipse boston's holiday and their holiday tree, because, you know christ and christmas have nothing to do with each other. That would be intolerant.
Besides, acknowledging all of the Islamic holidays and feasts show how tolerant we are. I'd hate to be intolerant of Richard Pearl's murderers and the religion they say gives them the right, excuse me, the obligation to kill. Sawed off heads is a much better symbol of love than a silly old christ. If offended, they may go after Jews next. To celebrate Ramadan or Muharram.
[Saddam] Has Also Given Aid, Comfort, And Sanctuary To Terrorists, Including Al-Qaida Members, Though There Is Apparently No Evidence Of His Involvement In The Terrible Events Of September 11, 2001. ... This Much Is Undisputed.
(Sen. Hillary Clinton, Congressional Record, 10/10/02, p. S10288)
There's no question that Saddam Hussein is a threat... Yes, he has chemical and biological weapons. He's had those for a long time. But the United States right now is on a very much different defensive posture than we were before September 11th of 2001... He is, as far as we know, actively pursuing nuclear capabilities, though he doesn't have nuclear warheads yet. If he were to acquire nuclear weapons, I think our friends in the region would face greatly increased risks as would we. -- Wesley Clark on September 26, 2002
I cannot listen anymore. This guy couldn't empty a litter box. At least Brian Wilson is aware that he is a liar. Biden, like the Energizer Bunny, keeps yapping, on and on. God, please stop, your a weaker and more stupid Harry Reid.If we don't deploy home, we are wrong. If we deploy home,
we're doing it too soon, let me check my poll. Murtha is right, but maybe I speak too soon.
Oh, I forgot to say, we have forgotten the Iraqi people,
because the American people want to succeed. What?
Before agreeing to the resolution, Murtha said he aired his concerns in a 45-minute meeting with Vice President Cheney, along with a short conversation with Bush during the signing of federal legislation for the Flight 93 memorial.
"I was more than a little apprehensive," Murtha said.
"I was concerned about the direction they were going. I was criticizing them about the way they were going to war without consulting Congress, without consulting the United Nations."
Murtha said he agreed to the resolution only after certain concessions were made.
"The military didn’t feel confident, Secretary Powell felt the same way I did, and our allies were saying you have to do this through the U.N.," Murtha said.
Murtha said the weapons inspections have to take place by
March, before the sweltering desert summer would make it unbearable for ground troops to wear protective gas masks.
After making a trip to Iraq in August, Murtha said he’s convinced Saddam has biological and chemical weapons of mass destruction. But Murtha said the Iraqi ruler has yet to develop a way to deliver the weapons for possible terrorist attacks
against the United States and abroad.
If Saddam doesn’t give in as Murtha suspects he will, Murtha said an attack "will not be a long war" but will require more than 200,000 ground troops and solid support from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Kuwait and other allies. (emphasis mine)
I will vote against this resolution because it is a fraud. What
more does anyone need to know, but that the sponsor himself has called for the defeat of his own proposition? If his real intention were to bring our troops home right now, why would he vote against his own resolution? Wake up
America.
“The American people are fed up with politicians who
say one thing and do another. Every one of conscience and
intelligence knows the magnitude of withdrawing 150,000 troops requires a plan, and a sincere legislative effort.
“The American people deserve a real debate on Iraq: Where are the WMDs? Where is Osama Bin Laden? What did Iraq have to do with 9/11?Kucinich brought the most applause with his call for the immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq. The exit strategy that he released on his Web site calls for a new United Nations resolution to relinquish all of the Iraqi oil assets to the UN and give them the responsibility for creating a new government for Iraq, instead of leaving it under U.S. authority.
Kucinich, bowing to pressure, did not call for an end to the war in his much anticipated Democratic National Convention speech.
Opinion polls list him as a long shot, but Rep. Dennis Kucinich is making waves as he campaigns for the Democratic nomination for president. He calls for an immediate withdrawal from Iraq, an end to NAFTA, and for universal health care. Join host Neal Conan and candidate Kucinich for a discussion.
Who's your fraud now, Daddy?
What is at stake is how to answer the potential threat Iraq represents with the risk of proliferation of WMD. Baghdad's regime did use such weapons in the past. Today, a number of evidences may lead to think that, over the past four years, in the absence of international inspectors, this country has continued armament programs. Jacques Chirac, October 16, 2002
General, from reliable sources, I believe the Iraqis are hiding chemical and biological weapons. King Abdullah of Jordan
- January 23, 2003
If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program. President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998
General Franks, you must be very, very careful. We have spoken with Saddam Hussein. He is a madman. He has WMD -
biologicals, actually - and he will use them on your troops. Hozni
Mubarek, President of Egypt - January 27, 2003
It means, fighting a media war. It means, turning the enemy's one great strength into our own. Broadcast words, sounds, and images are the arm of decision in today's world.
And if that assessment is correct, then we're losing this war and badly.
What about enhancing this war, Senator Kerry. What are your thoughts on going further than Afghanistan, all terrorist places ..."
KERRY: "Oh, I think we clearly have to keep the pressure on terrorism globally. This doesn't end with Afghanistan by any imagination. And I think the president has made that clear. I think we have made that clear. Terrorism is a global menace. It's a scourge. And it is absolutely vital that we continue, for instance, Saddam Hussein. CNN's "Larry King Live," 12/14/01
No longer is there a quest for the truth so much as there is this apparent need to present both sides of an issue even if one is nothing but lies and distortions. Giving the same value to fiction as to fact in the interest of so-called fairness is to mislead the American people and the press has become party to that.
The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retained some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capability. Intelligence reports also indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons, but has not yet achieved nuclear capability. -- Robert Byrd, October 2002
Congressional Republicans have put on a truly pathetic performance for the last several years. Spending keeps going up because of the Farm Bill, the Highway Bill and a Prescription Drug Benefit. Are we trying to buy the votes of farmers, signposts and elderly drag addicts? The issues are more nuanced than that, but the Republicans in Congress need to pay more attention to their real, as opposed to potential constituencies. Yes, it seems like a great idea to capture the center by stealing Democrat thunder (Federal meddling in education, health care, subsidies). The problem being that sometimes that thunder erupts in your own hands and blows off your ears. Political compromise is necessary, but Republicans too often emulate the French by declaring surrender before fighting.
The War on Terror, i.e., WWIII.
Culling the thoughts of my family and friends, I have tried to succinctly place in my brain, their thoughts about the War on Terror. It is impossible. Being who they are and the disparate paths they have traveled through the world, they thoughts are all over the board. I can place a few thoughts, though not a listed priority of their thoughts concerning the War on Terror;
Little Bush’s revenge.
Big Bush’s fault.
What do you mean a lie? Yeh, like the newspapers are going to lie!
Bush said WMD and there are none. Period!
I’m tired of hearing about it.
Lies, lies, lies. I thought Kerry pointed that out. Are you incapable of listening?
Jews. If Israel can’t defend themselves, then maybe it is time for them to go.
Geez, Bush can’t even kick Iraq’s ass, anticipate Katrina or keep our gas prices down.
There are other variations, but the above mainly covers their pronouncements. These comments didn’t come from deep discussions or intense debates. They came from people I know and love who offered an opinion when asked. That is why I am so depressed. Shallow thinking in the shallow end of the pool isn’t exactly an Olympic sport; it is more an ABC, CBS and NBC sport’s special with Brent Musburger giving color and thoughtful insight about nothing of interest.
I used to answer that the world’s intelligence agencies and virtually all of our politicians agreed that Sodamned Insane had to go. That he held WMDs and would use them again. That terror had to be fought where it grows, not where it blows, and on and on. Now, I just pray each night for the safety of our soldiers and for their success against these monsters. I pray that if this is their Jihad, then I want their Jihad destroyed, smashed and crushed to never rise again. If this terror is but a small part of a peaceful Islam, then let Islam help us root it out and kill it. Now, I just make a snarky comment about those Joooos in the Whitehouse, just to watch their normally tolerant faces turn red.
There are those that say that Iraq is Vietnam II. Bullshit. I lived through that era. Did I march? Yep, because I knew we weren’t going to be allowed to win and I usually marched alone. We were winning in Vietnam and kicking our own ass here at home. To that degree, Iraq is becoming another Vietnam. The press is reprising its roll as the Tokyo Rose of Vietnam, dusting of all the reporting that turned our citizens against that war’s goal of denying communist expansion and replaced it with a nefarious goal of gutting Southeast Asia for its resources. Didn’t you think “No blood for oil” sounded just a little familiar?
These are just my thoughts. I know I’m just from a red state, but I think those here in Ohio that wish we were more like NYC are just as stupid as those in NYC that think we should be more like France. I came to a realization when I did work for many years in NYC that the biggest snobs in Manhattan were from little places like Arkansas or went to good, but Podunk colleges like Frostburg. They had to think that way to deny their past. I found the same in my work in DC. Little people trying to be big fish in a better pond just out of their reach. It was sad then, and now that our country is in grave danger from without and within, it is sadder.
I do not think it is little Bush’s revenge. It is his noble calling.
It may be big Bush’s fault in that he didn’t kill the bastard back then.
I do believe news outlets lie every day.
There were WMDs. Where did they go?
I’m tired of the bitching. If all we do is free 30+million people, good!
I am capable of listening; I just chose not to believe Kerry’s lies.
I am loosely called a Christian and I will stand by the Jews in Israel forever.
We are kicking the terrorist’s ass in Iraq, we did anticipate Katrina, but LA didn’t, and despite Saudi Soros’ attempts, our gas prices are coming down.
Oh, another bad habit, I love my wife and children. Very much.
DEFORM OHIO NOW
“Reform Ohio Now”. I want Ohio to stop being Ohio. I mean why should we Buckeyes decide our own fate when intellectually superior gazillionaires and morally smug groups can decide for us?
Just think for a second, if we had their guidance in 2004 we would not have re-elected President Bush. We would have to hold our breath to be blue. We would have missed the Tubbs-Jones hissy fit duet with Boxer at the certification dance, but that was worth the price of admission and a corsage.
Let us see what we might gain with issues 2, 3, 4, and 5:
1. Voter Fraud – Cleveland style - could be statewide
2. More dead people could vote absentee more often
3. Simplicity, Only one Republican district stretching from Cleveland to Cincinnati using the median in Rt 71
4. George Soros might double his cash flow into Ohio politics
5. Even more out of state petitioners in our next election, maybe sum edercated babes
